Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso was asked what he thought of Gianluigi Buffon’s comments post-match from last Wednesday when Juventus were eliminated by Real Madrid after erasing a three goal deficit.

“I am frankly the last person who can talk about the way others react,” fiery Milan Coach Gattuso said in a Press conference.

“I did much worse than that, because when the vein gets blocked up, you don’t know what’s going on. I nearly headbutted Joe Jordan, I went into the stands to insult Leonardo… I just can’t talk.

“Gigi remains a great teammate and a great champion. When he feels ready, I think he will apologise. I felt sad for Juventus, but proud of Italian football.

“When I stepped on to the field, I was ready to do battle even against my own father if it meant victory for my team. I say it was my evil twin Rino who was on the pitch and to be honest that hasn’t changed.

“I still feel embarrassed when I watch back footage of what I’ve done, especially now my son can see them on the Internet.

“Having said that, I can’t understand why there is no VAR in the Champions League. What are referees for behind the line when you can put them in a room in front of a video replay? There is so much revolving around the Champions League, so many interests, it’s unthinkable there’s no VAR.”
