Giorgio Chiellini has insisted that he cannot hope to contain Harry Kane alone when the two side’s meet tomorrow at the Allianz Stadium.
“I don’t remember it [the tackle] very well but I remember when we played in Turin,” Chiellini stated.
“He’s certainly a great striker, but the tackle wasn’t done on purpose!
“In my opinion he was already one of the best strikers and people were already talking about him a lot.
“I managed to judge him properly, because on that occasion I already considered him a great striker and he’s become a top international player.
“I think me stopping Kane on my own, one-on-one, is pretty much impossible, I’m not so arrogant.
“What I hope is that the Juventus collective will be able to stop Tottenham. One-on-one clashes are important but the whole team will have to do its best to limit not only Harry Kane.
“We shouldn’t just think of Tottenham as Kane, but as a whole team. Tomorrow will be a very tough game, it’s the knockout round and we can’t wait to play.
“The priority is to end the match with a clean sheet but it won’t be easy because this team scores a lot of goals and has a lot of strong attackers so we’ll try to stop them with the whole team.
“We might win some one-on-one duels but the team is what allows us to make great progress, to play a lot of games.
“The less space you give them the better it will be. They have different characteristics, we know these players and we’ve seen them a lot, we’ve also played against some of them.
“They haven’t reached this level by chance. Against Chelsea last year I remember the great result they obtained, they’ve been growing a lot, developing a lot.
“Tomorrow we want to do our best with great respect and humility, aware that this is the very first step of a journey which I hope will take us to Kiev in May.”
